“THEY BROKE BREAD IN THEIR HOMES AND ATE TOGETHER WITH GLAD AND SINCERE HEARTS” ~ACTS 2:46B
We see people every Sunday. Sometimes we say hello, but how well do we really get to know one another?
Dinner for 8 is a great opportunity to meet new people and get to know your church family better. Join us on August 19th from 6-7:30pm for a fun dinner gathering! Dinner for 8 is a casual and fun way to get acquainted with people in our congregation. Whether you are new, or have been coming here for years, we encourage you to participate. The building of friendships, and a lot of fun, occur when sharing food and conversation around the dinner table!
Here's how it works:
Individuals and couples sign up to be randomly assigned to attend a casual dinner in the home of another First Church member and/or or host such a gathering. The host provides the table and drinks, and everyone else shares in bringing a main dish, salad or vegetable, and dessert. The emphasis is on fun and fellowship, so you don't have to be a professional chef to participate!;) It doesn't get any easier than this!

All that sounds pretty good, so far, but who cooks the meals? Everyone! Potluck dinners are the best way to simplify meal planning and distribute the costs among everyone in the group. The host provides the table and drinks, and everyone else brings the other dishes.
How are the Dinner for 8 Groups formed? People are randomly assigned to attend a casual dinner at a host's house as a way to get to know others in our church family! The goal is to have about 8 people per group, but it all depends on who signs up. The mystery is a part of this ministry's excitement!
Being a Host sounds scary! How are they selected and what do they do? Being a Host is fun and easy! You can sign-up to be a Host on the form. Hosts will serve as a point person, as needed.
I don't have room to host a dinner or I really can't cook! Our desire is for you to spend time eating together, getting to know each other and to include everyone. If you really can't cook, that's okay! Offer to bring a side, dessert, or something simple! We want everyone to feel that they can participate.
